Promising Portuguese Prospect

Nuno Alexandre Tavares Mendes, a 21-year-old defender from Portugal, has quickly become a key player for Paris Saint-Germain since joining the club in 2022. Born on June 19, 2002, in Sintra, Lisbon, Mendes began his football journey with local club Casa Pia.

Mendes' impressive performances at Casa Pia caught the attention of Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, where he joined the academy in 2018. He quickly progressed through the ranks and made his senior debut at the age of 17. Mendes' talent was evident, and he soon became a regular in Sporting Lisbon's starting lineup, helping them win the Primeira Liga title in 2020/21.

In the summer of 2022, PSG secured Mendes' services, paying a reported fee of around €38 million. Since arriving in Paris, Mendes has established himself as the team's first-choice left-back, showcasing his attacking and defensive qualities.
