Arizona Coyotes land approval for new 17,000-seat arena

Team has green light to bid on land following release of public auction notice

Plans for new arena include 17,000 seats, three times the size of current temporary home

The Arizona Coyotes have received the green light to bid on a tract of land in Tempe, Arizona, for the construction of a new 17,000-seat arena.

The news comes following the release of a public land auction notice from the Arizona State Land Department. The Coyotes are one of several potential bidders for the land, which is located near the Tempe Marketplace.

If the Coyotes are successful in their bid, the new arena would be built on a 46-acre parcel of land. The plans for the arena include 17,000 seats, three times the size of the Coyotes' current temporary home, Mullett Arena.

The new arena would also include a variety of amenities, including restaurants, bars, and retail stores. It would be located near major freeways and public transportation, making it easily accessible for fans.

The Coyotes have been playing in Mullett Arena since 2022, after leaving their previous home, Gila River Arena, in Glendale.

The team's long-term future in Arizona has been uncertain in recent years, but the approval to bid on the land in Tempe is a significant step forward for the franchise.

If the Coyotes are successful in their bid, the new arena would be a major boost for the team and the city of Tempe.
